This is a physio-led Pilates class following the APPI method of Pilates (The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). This is an adaptable method of Pilates and is therefore suitable for a vast range of people of different abilities with different personal aims. Pilates is an ideal form of exercise for those recovering from injury, wanting to improve body posture and alignment or those wanting to optimise their physical strength and become more in tune with their body. Each week we will work through a series of Pilates based exercises which aim to improve muscle tone, balance, alignment and movement control. These exercises can be done at different levels allowing individuals to be able to tailor their own workout (with guidance). Throughout the classes we will be focussing on the 8 basic principles of Pilates which will enable you to get the most from the exercises and incorporate Pilates into everyday life.
(the 8 principles being: concentration, breathing, centring, control, precision, flowing movements, integrated isolation and routine).
Please note that this is a small class with limited capacity due to the nature of working with different bodies during a Physio-led practice.
