Dan Byrne

I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years and teaching for the last 12. My primary practice is Ashtanga yoga which I love for its dynamism, grace and power to transform. I have been off and explored other styles of yoga and other movement systems, but something about the Ashtanga practice always draws me home. Once established, the practice can be both an anchor and a powerful tool for self examination. I also have a deep and regular seated meditation practice which grew from postural yoga (asana) and sits well alongside the more physical practice of Ashtanga.

I have found that yoga & meditation support every aspect of my life, from maintaining mobility & running without injury, to coping with the ever changing emotional ‘weather’ that arises from being human.

I teach primarily Ashtanga yoga, but I also offer & practice mindful yoga where a more gentle approach to movement is appropriate.

I learned the ashtanga method from many wonderful teachers over the years (Brian Cooper, David Swenson, Manju Jois and others). I currently practice primarily under the guidance of Donna Southwell, but also Matt Ryan and the AYS. My approach is traditional but not dogmatic, and adaptive whilst maintaining the heart of the practice.
