Modules

Become a safe, skilful, intelligent yoga practitioner and teacher through applicable up to date relevant functional anatomy that is engaging, practical and fun!  Understand the modern age human body in the asana practice and how to balance stability, stretch, and strength.

Fundamental to learning and teaching yoga is embodying the practice and knowing ‘Why’ you’re doing ‘What’ you do through developing & deepening your personal Asana & Meditation practice, attending public classes & workshops, peer sessions, class observations, self-study and daily reflection work. You’ll predominantly explore the Principles of Vinyasa & Hatha- including pace & breath, alignment, functional movement, modifications for different bodies,  the common dominators within pose groups, and how to approach and break down poses –  as a structure for methodical, creative & well-balanced sequencing to confidently educate, progress and empower your students and their practice from a place of personal experience & integrity. We will also address incorporating Restorative Yoga in your classes, and how to support pregnant students.

Find your own purpose, voice & style, and develop the essential teaching skills to create and deliver well-balanced, inspiring & safe in-person and face-to-face classes for mixed level, beginners, and one-to-one settings. Learn about class planning, structured sequencing, injury management & prevention, practicing effective demonstrations, reading bodies, verbalisation & articulation, hands on assists, and using Sanskrit. It also includes how to support pregnant yoga students in your classes and how to make your teaching size inclusive.

As a teacher, you will be the ambassador of your own business. We’ll cover some key fundamental admin and marketing including; setting yourself up as a teacher, approaching studios and gyms, running your own sessions face to face and online, handling customer service, holding space for others, and how to make yourself visible through authentic communication on social media and other marketing platforms.

Teaching begins on day one of training and is pivotal to every aspect of learning at the school. You may be unsure if you’d like to be in the seat of the teacher after completion but there are hugely valuable skills to be gained from leading a group.  Includes peer and small group teaching practice in person and online, opportunities to assist and teach Community Yoga at Heather Yoga,  and concluding with a group class assessment.

Connect to your purpose, and clarify your ‘Why’ through self-reflection practice and reading to amplify and light up your teaching and inspire others.

Delve into the roots of the practice, gain insight into yourself and live your Yoga through applying the philosophical teachings to daily life & teaching for depth, authenticity, and richness, and living a balanced life.  You’ll explore the History of lineages, the ancient texts, styles of yoga, developments of the asana practice, and other modern contemplative practices.

Regular homework assignments to digest and integrate information – will include designing class sequences, a 6-week beginner’s course, and a month-long curriculum.

Stay in your flow with group coaching calls via Zoom to keep in contact with Heather & your peers between training weekends to allow for questions, sharing what has come up,  troubleshoots challenges and celebrate with your wins, and keep the momentum going between the group. You’ll also be paired with a new buddy once a month for leaning into and teaching practice.
