Julie Martin Workshops

Two Day Immersion: Movement from Within – Fascia, Embodiment & the Art of Listening with Julie Martin

We are often taught yoga through shapes: where to place the foot, how far to stretch, what a posture should look like. But the body doesn’t experience movement as a collection of separate shapes. There is an inherent intelligence that we’ve lost touch with. The body experiences sensation, rhythm, relationship, memory and response. We can learn how to have a dialogue with the body.

This 2 day immersion with internationally recognised teacher and movement educator Julie Martin is an invitation to move beyond the external form of yoga and enter into a deeper conversation with your body.

Through 3 interconnected sessions, we’ll explore fascia as a living, sensory network—and discover how it influences the way we move, feel, adapt and respond. Each session will combine a complete embodied yoga and movement practice with accessible, experiential learning.

Rather than imposing movement upon the body, you’ll learn how to listen, respond and move with greater curiosity. You’ll explore how strength can coexist with fluidity, how support can create freedom and how awareness can transform even the most familiar practice.

This isn’t about achieving more advanced postures. It’s about developing a more responsive, intelligent and deeply personal relationship with your body.

WORKSHOP 1

Beyond the Shape

Friday 12th March  | 6.45pm – 8.45pm

Beyond the Shape

Invite the stories that live in your body to be expressed in movement, through sensation, curiosity and connection. An embodied practice starts us off so that we can feel into our own sense of stability, structure and space. Afterwards, we’ll begin exploring fascia as a living sensory network and consider what changes when we stop focusing on what movement looks like and begin listening to what it feels like.

Participants may submit this workshop toward their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.

**£30 or £85 if you book together with both Saturday’s workshops: Rooted & Responsive and The Listening Body – Save £15**

15% for Annual Members – individual workshops

WORKSHOP 2

Rooted & Responsive

Saturday 13th March | 11am – 1:30pm

2.5 hours, including a 75-minute full practice

Best paired with The Listening Body

We begin with interactive exercises and lectures to understand what it means to be grounded and how stability is about adaptability. Not just physically but mentally. When we understand the fascial connections and our centre of gravity, we also shape how we show up in the world with those connections. This opens us to possibilities in movement and perception. We then move into a complete embodied practice exploring the relationship between the feet, legs and pelvis. We’ll investigate how the body receives support from the ground and how force, sensation and movement travel through the fascial network.

You’ll find freedom in balances and a lightness in how you transition from one shape to the next. You’ll follow the language of the body and let the mind remain the observer.

Participants may submit this workshop toward their Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours.

Lunch is not included, but a pre-booked £15 fully plant based delicious lunch and herbal tea at Dandelion Cafe will be available to order. An email will be sent to confirm your booking.

**£35, £60 if you both both Saturday’s workshops Rooted & Responsive and The Listening Body – save £10, or £85 if you book all three workshops together with Beyond The Shape and The Listening Body – Save £15**

WORKSHOP 3

The Listening Body

Saturday 13th March  | 2.30 – 5pm

The Listening Body

2.5 hours

Best paired with Rooted & Responsive

Through understanding the nervous system, we’ll explore how habits, lived experience and our sense of safety can influence movement. Through smaller embodied enquiries, reflection and discussion, participants will begin to recognise familiar patterns and discover new possibilities.

We then take the ‘learned knowledge’ and put it into a movement practice. Unravelling

resistance and finding strength in fluidity.

“How we move changes how we feel about ourselves. How we feel about ourselves changes how we show up in the world. Movement with freedom is crucial” – Julie Martin
