Guest Teachers

Suhir Rishi

Philosophy

Sudhir Rishi has been involved in the fields of yoga, meditation, philosophy and Ayurveda for the last 27 years. He lived as a monk for eight years, dedicating himself to intense meditation practices. He has taught thousands of students in yoga teacher training programs, meditation courses and silent retreats over the last seven years in Goa, India. He also travels to different countries in Europe and Asia conducting workshops and yoga retreats.
Born into a traditional Hindu family, he studied Mechanical Engineering, achieved a Master of Technology award in Quality and Reliability and worked as a Total Quality Manager in a leading automobile company in India. However, all through his career he was deeply thinking and observing life. At age 28, sudden death of his mother and inspired by Buddha and other spiritual masters, he left his highly paid job, and joined the Ramakrishna Mission as a Brahmachari (celibate monk). His quest took him to the Himalayas. Later, he joined the Swami Dayananda Ashram, in Rishikesh and studied Sanskrit, Vedic Chanting and Commentaries on scriptures of Advaita vedanta. He learnt yoga from the Balananda Brahmachari tradition and Bihar School of Yoga and did his yoga teacher training in Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore.

Laura Burkhart

Injury Management & Prevention

Laura is an E-RYT 500 International teacher and featured online yoga teacher for Om Stars, Grokker, Yoga Vibes and My Yoga Work. She is a two-time cover model for Yoga Journal Italy and Singapore, May 2019 Cover model for Om Yoga and Lifestyle Magazine, and is regular contributor for Yoga Journal USA and Om Yoga and Lifestyle Magazine. Laura sought out yoga to help combat serious health problems her body was experiencing as a result of a decade of major stress and insomnia. She gravitated toward yoga because it reminded her of the similar meditative movement she found when she use to dance. The healing, grounding benefits she received from yoga was so profound that she decided to change the course of her work life to help others find the same relief and peace she had found through a fluid, meditative vinyasa practice. When you come to my yoga class I’d like you to feel respected, clear headed and generally better physically & mentally afterwards.
When I’m not yoga-ing and I am looking after my two young children.
